PolySoft is cool, and it’s cooool. Says Vince Garrett, PolySoft Surfaces operations manager for North America, “Comments at the grand opening of the playground were mostly about how vibrant and cool the surface looks.”

As at several locations around the Hawaiian Islands, the play equipment had to be drilled into underlying coral – “that’s the base on many areas here”, says Garrett. The strong chemical bond between PolySoft particles also ensures superior lateral strength.

Over time, PolySoft will also show its resilience against fading in Hawaii’s harsh sunlight and humid, salty air. PolySoft’s fade resistance is down to its specially developed two-part aliphatic polyurethane binder and colourfast technology, which protects against UV radiation (and against fading by chemicals such as chlorine in splash playgrounds or pool environments).

“Whether you see the Iriquois Point design as based on a circus or a medieval fair – that’s my personal take – or inspired by Hawaii’s hibiscus hues, the point is it’s a place where kids can run wild and have a wonderful time,” says Ophelia Zhu, CEO of PolySoft Surfaces.
