“Our brief,” says installer Garry McIntosh of Super Surfaces,“was to design and supply a chlorine-resistant aquatic surfacing system that was capable of performing well beyond the basic warranty period while complying with slip-test standards, being cool under foot and able to withstand the very high UV-related colour-fade problems typical of lower-quality surfacing products.” PolySoft Splash was his first choice for this challenging commission, which included many vertical surfaces and irregular colour blocks.
On this installation, more than 300 square metres of PolySoft, in colours such as Burnt Amber, Silky Oak, Liquid Turquoise, Jade Breeze and Morning Sky, went down – and up! “The vertical wall surfaces require high levels of skill on the part of the surfacing crew, and the overall finish is excellent,” says Garry proudly.“During the Mayor’s official opening, Super Surfaces and PolySoft were given special mention in speeches. Councillors and park users all commented on the bright colours and the low temperature maintained by the surfaces in very hot conditions.”
Seamless and hygienic, the PolySoft surface of Roma’s Denise Spencer Water Park (part of the Denise Spencer Memorial Pool complex) is proving easy to maintain – a bonus for the council. “The Mayor mentioned to me that the council would definitely use PolySoft applied by Super Surfaces in any future aquatic facility development,” says Garry.
“In Roma,” he adds, “summer ambient temperatures can easily reach the mid-40s. Low domestic pool ownership in the town means the water park and aquatic centre are extremely popular. They’re open 12 months of the year to provide respite from the temperature extremes around here.”
PolySoft General Manager, Kellie Steiner, is delighted to be part of bringing Queensland’s holiday sensation beyond the state’s coastline. “Watching kids play in safety in a fun water environment? There’s nothing that better evokes Australian summer time,” she says.
